Definition
Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose is also known as Hypromellose. In Romanian it is called "hidroxipropilmetilcelulosa", Referred to as HPMC or MHPC. Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is a compound of nonionic cellulose mixed ethers. It is a semi-synthetic, inactive, viscoelastic polymer.
Mikem Chemical offers multiple categories of cellulose and modified products under the brand name "MelaColl".
Raw materials
The main raw materials of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC) include refined cotton, methyl chloride, propylene oxide, and other raw materials, caustic soda, acid, toluene, isopropyl alcohol, etc.
Manufacturing process
First, the refined cotton needs to be pre-processed and crushed. Add solvent, water, and sodium hydroxide to the reaction kettle to perform an alkalization reaction on the crushed refined cotton. Then add propylene oxide and ethyl chloride to perform an etherification reaction on the alkalized refined cotton.
The product then needs to be neutralized, washed and centrifuged to dry. Finally, the obtained HPMC product is packaged.
Mikem Chemical has achieved large-scale production of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. Using the latest production equipment to ensure product quality.
Applications
Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is mainly used in the construction industry, chemical industry, cosmetics industry, food industry, pharmaceutical industry, kiln industry and other industries.
In the construction industry, it is mainly used as an additive for tile adhesives, tile grouts, wall putty, masonry mortar, self leveling compounds, EIFS and other products.
Melacoll Product Advantages
Melacoll, as a first-class HPMC supplier, has been carefully developed to improve a variety of properties. Depending on the specific requirements of th eend user, these properties include:
Cold-water solubility. Melocal HPMC dissolves easily in cold water, reducing your waiting time.
Thickness. Increases viscosity and stability of liquids.
Water retention. Extending the open time also helps cement hydration more fully.
Lubrication. HPMC for cement can improves workability and processing.
PH stability. Melacoll™ HPMC remains stable in the range of pH 3~11.
Non-ionic. It is more stable in an aqueous solution.
Thermal gelation. Melacoll HPMC turns into a gel when the temperature is too high, and when cools down, it turns into the liquid again.
Air entraining. Melacoll HPMC for mortar helps increase production and improve workability.
Film formation. Hydroxy Propyl Methyl Cellulose is waterproof and oil-proof.
Enhanced tensile strength. It will increase the strength of the building and improve safety.
