Product Description

MelaColl™ Hydroxyethyl Methyl Cellulose (HEMC), also known as Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose (MHEC), is a non-ionic cellulose ether. It is made from natural polymer cellulose through a series of etherification reactions. HEMC is excellent in water solubility, water retention, surface activity, thickening, film formation, adhesion, suspension, and high-temperature resistance... Mikem’s products have been widely used in various industries, including tile adhesives, grouts, skim coat/wall putty, cement renders, gypsum-based products, cement-based mortars.

Melacoll™ MHEC Highlights

  1. Cold-water solubility. HEMC dissolves easily in cold water, reducing your waiting time.
  2. High-temperature resistance. It usually keep working under 75℃.
  3. Thickness. HEMC for liquid can increases viscosity and stability.
  4. Water retention. Extending the open time also helps cement hydration more fully.
  5. Lubrication. HEMC for cement can improves workability and processing.
  6. PH stability. HEMC remains stable in the range of pH 3~11.
  7. Non-ionic. HEMC is more stable in an aqueous solution.
  8. Thermal gelation. It turns into a gel when the temperature is too high, and when cools down, it turns into the liquid again.
  9. Air entraining. HEMC for mortar can help increase mortar production and improve workability.
  10. Film formation. HEMC cellulose is waterproof and oil-proof.
